The Roman pillars near Naples contain marine borings. They were used by Charles Lyell in early 1800s to illustrate uniformitarianism. However, Ager (a non-creationist) pointed out the borings "...do not indicate a gradual change in sea-level...there are no borings lower down in the masonry and the sea-level change must have been very rapid."
