A recently published study by two neuroscientists from Radboud University and the University of Oxford announced the finding of previously unknown brain differences between humans and chimpanzees. The unique human brain connections are in distinct areas associated with known language functions. These anatomical differences between humans and chimpanzees suggest a brain difference that enables the unique language ability of humans. However, it does not answer the ultimate question of what causes human language.

Humans are unique, according to Scripture, being the only creatures made in God’s image. The Bible also reveals God put a spirit within humans. This spirit in man makes us unique and gives us abilities (such as language) unknown to any other physical creation. This spirit in man is beyond the study of the tools of physical science.
